About metal ceramic restorations
A metal ceramic crown, also called porcelain fused to metal (PFM), has a metal framework with porcelain fired over it. The framework gives strength and the porcelain gives the tooth its colour and shape.
DENCO DMLS: laser-sintered frameworks
With DMLS (direct metal laser sintering), the framework is built layer by layer from chrome cobalt powder by a laser, straight from the digital design. There is no wax pattern and no casting, so the framework follows the CAD design closely. Denco recommends DMLS as the replacement for conventional PFM, to cut down on fitting, high-point and margin problems at the chair.
DENCO PFM, CF and full metal
Supreme and Premium PFM and CF facings use CAD/CAM technology; Regular uses conventional technology. DENCO DMLS FM and DENCO FM Premium are full metal crowns made with CAD/CAM; DENCO FM Regular is a conventional full metal crown.
